Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island known as West Island. People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere in the west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to everything from the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. She was determined to be professional, however due to an explosive expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 feet 1 inches tall. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. Brugel was one of many former dancers that turned into acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. A teacher suggested that she try out for a school production. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the annual school production. It led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with an Associate in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been performing in over 60 plays, large and small. The most notable was when she landed the role of Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member in Season 1 of the series and only seen occasionally.
